Jashn-e-bahaara

The first time heard this song from the movie Jodha Akbar, I was struck by the melody and the beautiful voice of the singer. Didn’t know that I would end up listening to this song continuously in the coming days. As with any other movie of A.R. Rahman’ s music the expectations are always high. And this song has struck the chord instantly with all. Though there are two other tracks in the same movie that are worth a mention, it is this song that stays in our mind. The maestro has done it again! He has just rendered a classic. I never understand when people do not accept this sheer genius with reasons such as his music is too techno-oriented, there is an incompleteness in his tunes etc. But then some of his songs that went on to top the charts are so pleasant to hear even after a long time. His trend of rendering some of the most classic tunes so many times could definitely not be an accident. And Jashn-e-baharaa is surely not one. It is a song from a very talented music composer who is NOT here just because of his luck. The instrumental version of the same song is such an awesome piece. The variations in the sound’s of the flute is so subtle but definitely unmistakable.
I believe the success of A.R. Rahman lies in the kind of singer he chooses for each of his songs. Javed Ali, a name not so popular among the playback singers has done a magnificient job. I was not aware that Javed Ali has sung quite a number of song’s for some popular movies. Most of the times his voice superseded by the voices of other top singers. No one could probably ask for a better song to be popular than this. He emotes extremely well to Javed Akthar’s stunning lyrics, describing the pain of unrequited love and yet the comfort in it.
Overall this song is a perfect combination of the talents of some great artists. A sure treat for our ear’s.
