KK - Refreshing new voice

Another talented singer from God’s own country, KK a.k.a. Krishnakumar Menon is a well-known name in the Hindi and Tamil music scene. Tadap tadap ke from Hum dil de chuke sanam brought him to the lime light and he quickly went on singing some chart topping numbers. Uyrin Uyire from Kaaka kaaka (tamil) became and instant hit and went on to be remade in Telgu as well. KK can render a wide and diverse variety of moods through his songs. Perfect examples would be songs like Tu hi meri shab, Pani thuli or his recent hits from Om shanti om – Ajab si or Labon ko from Bhool Bhulaiya, Tere pyaar mein (Bas Ek Pal) needs a special mention.

The only solo music album he released was ‘Pal’ which did quite well, but somehow I feel those were not his best renderings. This talented singer has come a long way since the days he was singing jingles for numerous ads some of the most famous ones being Pepsi ‘Yeh dil mange more’, bajaj. He got his lucky break in playback singing with ‘Chod aaye hum’ from Machis under Vishal Bharadwaj a fine music director.
This versatile singer is keeps a low profile with the media. It is known that he speaks good Malayalam and have strong connections with his birthplace inspite of being brought up in Delhi.
Perhaps one day we can hear him in a Malayalam song and I am almost convinced that we wouldn’t have to wait for long.
